Dear Annie and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and hope you are all doing okay. Mervyn was such a nice and very kind man who unfortunately had to spend several years in hospital. Let's hope he's now in a better place, free of pain and the sorrow of not being able to spend his last years at home with his family.
Sincerely,
Ella Irving

From my family to yours, are most sincere condolences.
I had the chance to meet Mervin through the Gauthier family and true enough, Mervin was always a man of few words but when he spoke you wanted to listen to what he had to say.

I was so very sad to hear about "Marvin" and even though I'm crying as I write this, I am so blessed & honoured to have known this man....a man who was sooo kind, never mad, gentle, patient, loving, warm hearted & funny.....so funny! I was so blessed to have grown up with lots of cousins & family, which in turn meant plenty of outdoor fun and get togethers! Many of my greatest childhood memories however, are from being at Anne & Mervyn's and also ice fishing. I LOVED going to Black Donald because I knew I would get to visit great family members, see lots of animals, go 4-wheelin', fishin' and hear great stories from "Marvin"! He would slowly start to speak with his long drawn out words and then smile as he told his tales and you would just sit there, hanging on every word waiting for the great finale or punch line. You just never really knew for sure if these stories were completely true or not though, lol! He also always had such patience with us kids too and would entertain us and take us on awesome adventures such as visiting his pet beaver.....yes a beaver! Also there was ice fishing, yep freezing cold ice fishing on New Year's day, when we would all ski-doo for over an hour, just to fish for trout that NEVER bit but I absolutely loved it. I loved the fact that Mervyn would be there and he would always be ready to entertain everyone for the day...full of jokes, silly antics and stories.....so many stories that he always told with a distinct twinkle in his eye. Mervyn knew how to be silly, have fun and not care about what he looked like and that is why he was such a great man, husband, father, friend, uncle, brother, brother-in-law; you name it he was just that guy.....someone you looked up to and admired. He enjoyed the simple life, loved & treasured his family, respected nature and just lived life to the fullest. We can all learn from "Marvin" to be better people and I am truly going to miss him. Although it's sad he had to leave us too soon, I am sure many of our relatives in Heaven are happy a new entertainer has arrived! This may be long but Mervyn was very special and with so many great memories, it is hard to keep it short. Also to Ann, John & Janice, I hope all of those fantastic memories and stories bring smiles to your faces and help you through this difficult time. Until we meet again Mervyn, please continue to watch over your family & friends as you always have in the past.
Love to all of you! xox Kailee & Darby

Heartfelt condolences to the entire Stubinsky family and extended clans. Mervyn was a great friend to all that knew him. A mountain of a man with the heart of a teddy bear. Always a humorous dry anecdote to share. He had a wonderful fatherly way about him with an ear for advice. If you needed anything you could find it in his shop or somewhere on the property of stuff.. We have really missed Merv’s presence at the camp on Norcan Lake and will cherish the fond memories we are so lucky to have made. Merv will be sadly missed by all. Merv, say Hi to the Flyboy will ya…

Ann, John, Janice and family. Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of Mervyn. I can still remember the first time we met so many years ago, Shirley and I looking for a campsite and him looking for one of his boats that had been left by one of the campers over near the dam. We asked if he knew a place where we could camp for the weekend and his said, sure...follow me! And that chance encounter led to a great many years of fun and laughter and friendship. I am so sorry for your loss. Merv will be remembered and greatly missed.
