I am just learning of Kaela's death now. I am in complete shock. She had such incredible determination and positive outlook. Kaela was so open about her journey and determined to beat the odds. I know in her final years she lived more, saw more, did more and exhausted every second out of every minute of the day. My heart goes out to Kaela's family and friends. This is such a sad loss and too young to be no longer with us.
Rest In Peace Chrystina ' Kaela' Mavretic. 1990 - 2017. Gone, but not forgotten.

When spending months at a hospital, many people come and go over the years. Seeing Kayla peeking in my room at St. Mike's and waving with her Mom at her side is a vision I cherish. There was a warmth and a light to her...She was very special.
Getting to know her over the years - encouraging her fighting spirit, witnessing her endless joy for living, her huge love for friends and family, sharing tough times at 3 a.m. through a computer screen...she had such an impact on so many people!
Kayla cared. Kayla made a difference. Kayla mattered. Kayla taught us what strength is. Kayla loved, and was loved. Well done, girl. Breathe free!

WE prayed this day would never come but yet you both prepared for this day by supporting Kayla to live her beautiful life to the fullest!!
Man, did that girl live!! I saw the love she had for the both of you and Yes she truly lived to honour you!! What a legacy she left and the lives she touched!
Kayla touched more lives in her short life than most do in a lifetime. She touched mine. Kayla was a big part of my healing when I lost Paul. Grief is so hard. Kayla drew me into her story and I am blessed to be part of it! God shone through your girl and now she is with HIM...free of pain and Breathing deeply!! Thank you Jesus!
Thank you for including me in your family...I am grieving deeply and have cried every day. This has hit me hard and yet I know it is just a sliver to your pain and grief. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

I remember Kayla when she was a student at Colonel Cameron PS in Corunna. Even through all her struggles , she always had a smile and a giggle. She was a joy to have in any class. Her determination was evident even back then . My condolences to all of Kayla's family and friends. Be at peace Kayla.

Dear Jennifer and Michael,
My heart and thoughts are with you.
While I have not been in your current shoes, I have been in many of the places you have been in recent months, weeks and even the days leading up to last Friday, and there are no words which can express my deepest sympathies.
There is nothing anyone can do to assuage the loss of your angel daughter. I can only hope that you will have space in which to grieve and come to some eventual peace in some future time.
I know Kaela will be dearly missed by my daughter, by Kaela's other friends, and by your family. She fought so long and so hard, and may she now be in eternal peace, light and happiness.
