Kathleen,Chris and MaryKate;
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Knowing your Dad for many years, since you were born. The kindness to our Mother over all the years was unbelievable, your Dad and Mom treated her like their Mother. Your Dad drove all of us girls to the Church for our weddings, and of course a full bar in toe, doing a back road tour. It was an honour to have him do this for all of us. The beautiful retirement party they put on for Mother. I will his emails with the crazy jokes to the end. Sure made me laugh. Karl will be GREATLY missed. RIP Karl.
Love Cathy Merkley and Family

Kathleen so sorry to hear about your Dad. He was a great man. I have many fond memories of him. He was such an entertainer. He loved to be around people and make them laugh. Even when his health was declining he still managed to look at the bright side and find a way to still make people smile. May he rest in peace. My condolences to you and your family.

I called him mon unc. yes he was my uncle but he was also one of my best friends for over fifty years. A few times in my life i needed temporary sanctuary he always welcomed and helped me. He taught me to drive, to drink, my nautical expertise, how to tickle the ivories, grand marnier deserts, and an early move to the luxury end of the dining table (sorry Kathleen) and this was all in my teens. In later years I noticed that he became a very kind and generous man and had a fondness for the less fortunate. Even though he was only 10 years older them me I considered him the last elder around and I confided in him and sought his knowledge. So many fond memories of summers spent at the lodge that my cup runneth over. So sorry for your loss Kathleen and Mary Kate, my heart aches for you. Last time I saw him at home I was so grateful to see him and his pet chipmunk performing it was a heartwarming sight. Since his passing I have felt a great sadness in the air. An unforgettable gentle man whose passing will leave a small hole in many souls. Are you a turtle...........

Kathleen, Mary Kate and the Flynn family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on Karl's passing.
I first met Karl while skiing at Calabogie 35+ years ago. Karl stood out in the crowd during Apres ski time in the lodge, standing tall, dark and handsome in a one piece blue ski suit socializing with everyone.I though to myself there is one charismatic man !
In 2009 I reconnected with an old high school friend after 40 years, Karl's nephew, Michael Flynn. This is when I got to know "Uncle Karl" . Karl was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour , one never leaving a visit without laughing and hearing a joke or two. Karl was in his element preparing Income Tax returns for everyone in the Calabogie and surrounding area. I observed "Uncle Karl" loved his family and kept everyone up to date on the health and happiness of all family members. He was so very proud of his daughter Kathleen and Grand daughter Mary Kate. Rest in Peace my dear friend
Sincerely Debbie McLachlan

Kathleen, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. Wish we had planned a visit earlier but he was in our thoughts without knowing why. Our deepest sympathies to you and the family. When you mentioned food, it brought back a memory of Karl sharing his secret recipe for chowder, a pkg, add water. He was a huge man with a gentle spirit. In the years Karl worked for us, we shared many happy times, some at the lodge. He was known by many and will be missed.

"Boo" your dad was just the greatest - I can still remember you and Chips coming down the stairs in your Dr. Dentons late at night checking on us - he was such a great cook. piano entertainer as well as the organ at the same time. Talked to him the other day and he did not seem very well then but at least he knew I called I think - may he now rest in peace and hopefully will see you in Sept -death is a colour you cannot describe - hopefully he will join your mother Dave and Chips!

I have enjoyed getting to know Karl over the last 4 years. He was a great storyteller and always had a joke or two that left me laughing. Every visit with Karl was different, sometimes it was just catching up, sometimes it was help with our taxes, at Christmas it was listening to him play the organ for a sing along, in the summer it was sitting on the front porch feeding peanuts to his little chipmunk friend, guided tours of Calabogie in the pontoon boat and once in awhile, it was a fabulous meal that started with Bon Appetite and ended extravagantly with banana flambé!
We rarely left without him sending some homemade onion bread along with us.
My only regrets are that I didn't get to know him sooner and that I never got to see him in his tuxedo!!
R.I.P. Karl, until we meet again.
Love and prayers especially going out to Kathleen and MaryKate. May you experience comfort and peace during this time of loss. ❤️

Forever in my memories and my heart. The Price family reaped the benefits of your heart and contagious love of life. You changed all of us and gave us such laughter and joy at The Lodge. Thank you for being a kid with us when we were merely kids ourselves, that just enhanced our connection with you. I love you Uncle Karl and I am happy you are in your forever home with the love of your life. See you soon...
