Obituary of Robert Griese

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad, Robert (Bob) Griese on November 29, 2024, at the age of 92. Bob was born on April 16, 1932, in Pembroke Ontario, and was the only child of the late Harold and Annie (nee McCaughan) Griese.

At the age of 20, Bob met and married the love of his life, Margaret (nee Boldt) of 62 years. He spent his entire career with Ontario Hydro working in many locations throughout Ontario. His greatest joy was being with family and friends. He took pride in his family and was happiest when surrounded by people. He enjoyed meeting new people, conversing and learning about other’s lives.

In addition to family, Bob loved travel, music, spending time at the cottage and touring around Renfrew in his sport’s car. He made friends wherever he went, lived life to the fullest and always encouraged everyone else to do so as well. He met all life’s challenges with a positive outlook that never seemed to get him down. Love, compassion and humour guided him through all life’s challenges. When Bob’s health began to fail, a close friend’s comment exemplified Bob’s outlook on life “Bob; even though you recently have had a tough row to hoe, you always find the sunshine, you’re a real fighter.”

Bob is survived by his four children Paul(late Katherine), Tom (Ann), Alan (Cindy) and Brenda Pilatzke (Don); by his grandchildren Jason, Rebecca, Michael, Kyle, David (Holly), Rachel, Jeff (Trisha) Pilatzke, Heather (Ryan) Marcellus, Christopher (Carmelita) Pilatzke and by six great grandchildren Ripley, Gideon, Fisher, Matthew, Kaleb and Everett. He is also survived by his brother- in- law and sister-in- law Bob and Delta Boldt.

A special thank you to his long time physician Dr. Angela Varrin, and the staff at Quail Creek in Renfrew and Caressant Care in Cobden for taking such good care of our father.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Renfrew Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow.
Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
