Sandra "Sandy" Gombik

Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Gombik

Sandy Gombik, revered as a pillar of strength, bravery, and unyielding positivity, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday November 22, 2024 after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 27, 1962, Sandy was known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.

Lovingly remembered by her beloved daughters, Stephanie Kauffeldt (Kajiel), and Brittany Defalco. Dear Grandma to Reid, Zach, Hadlee, Brooke and Lydia. Loving partner of Todd Kolestik for nearly 15 years.

Born to David and Carole Noble, Sandy was raised in Toronto with her 3 siblings, Debbie Leontowicz(John), Cathy Loebach (Dan), and Keith(Jen). She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Fraser, Kimmy, Bryce, Jackie(Eric) and her late nephew Steve.

Among Sandy’s most significant accomplishments was raising her twin daughters, whom she held as her pride and joy, as well as her 5 grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly. She worked as a dog groomer for over 30 years and upon retiring from grooming, she opened “On the Clothesline” thrift store, where she raised funds for local charities and organizations within the community.

Her legacy is one of kindness and generosity. Even in sickness, Sandy continued to give and help others. She never once faltered in caring for her loved ones, even more than she did for herself.

Sandy’s loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

We would like to add a special thank you to all staff at Hospice Renfrew for the exceptional care Mom received in her final weeks.

At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. In Sandy’s memory, please consider donating to Hospice Renfrew.
