I had the pleasure of knowing Don for close to 10 years working with him at Hallmark Housekeeping. Don had a way with his team like no other and he was loved and admired. His sense of humour, his life experience and his seemingly never ending luck at the casino always made for amazing tales. Condolences to those who knew him best as he always spoke of family. We were all better and lucky to have him in our lives.

Our nephew Don was a cherished member of the family, known for his kind soul and great sense of humor. His relentless work ethic and willingness to help at any time made him a valuable companion. He was deeply appreciative of his aunt's cooking, always expressing his gratitude with politeness. An avid sports enthusiast, Don especially loved baseball, hockey and fishing. His family will sorely miss his presence and the joy he brought into their lives.
Jerry, Jackie, Doug, Wally, and Jessica, please accept our sympathy.
Love Paul & Anita

Thank you for the beautiful words Paul and Anita. Don truly loved your cooking and the visits for the family gatherings at your former home. The picture that I posted of Don, Doug and myself was at a Christmas party that you guys held. The world has truly lost a gentle soul. Thank you for the kind donation to Renfrew Hospice. Don was truly happy to be able to spend his final days under the care of the nurses there. We got to spend alot of time with him in his final month.
Love Jackie xox

So Don was my Manager at Hallmark housekeeping. When I started just as a cleaner, he saw the potential in me! He trained me to become his next step in retiring.
Watching his flip coins for a quick buck and get a little rise out of his day, made all of the difference out of a Boss.
I took the role of watching over his team and they absolutely LOVED him! I have never seen such a wholesome little family, that he had created with his staff. I had the pleasure of taking on his responsibilities as he moved on to golf everyday of the week!!
About a year following his retirement, we had kept in touch every now and then. He'd come by the office with his board and wed get all the staff rounded up for the visit. He was truly a remarkable human. You will be missed by so many

I haven't seen Don in many years, but I'll always remember him as a human teddy bear... warm, huggable and sure to make you smile. Dear Don, thanks for making the world a better place and thanks for helping the Bills beat the Chiefs on Sunday.

I could write a book about what a wonderful human being Don was. I was so very proud that he was my brother. As I reflect over his life, he was a very simple man, by that I mean he never chased material things. I think his greatest pleasure was when he was with our family. He loved my mom’s amazing cooking and Mom always made just a little extra so he could take home a care package. Don’s face would light up when-ever he gave us a gift, it gave him immense joy to see our reactions.
Don has a wonderful sense of humour and was always up for a silly joke and I can hear his belly laughs now. Even though Don lost his voice to throat cancer three years ago, he could still communicate with his boogey board and he was still writing out jokes for us to enjoy. He loved my husband Wally’s jokes the most.
I can’t remember a time when if anyone wanted his help for anything, he was right there with no expectation of anything in return. His kindness will be one of the things that I hold dearest to my heart.
Three years ago, after his diagnosis with throat cancer, he handled the news of his disease with grace, and he was declared cancer free after a year of treatments but sadly the cancer returned this summer, and it was in his lungs and pancreas and his body was not able to win this battle. During his journey so many wonderful medical professionals told us what a special person Don was, even when he was in hospice the nurses told us that he never wanted to bother them…that was Don, independent to the end.
My heart is broken, this world has lost one of the good ones and I know that Mom and Lise were there to great him and the three of them will be “having tea” together. A family joke about how Mom and Lise would send a code that they were headed to the casino.
Rest in Love my dearest brother. xoxo

I think we can all agree that Don was taken too soon, but we can find comfort that he is no longer in pain & is in good company. Thank you for all the memories we share and the kindness you've shown me through the years . You will forever be missed and never forgotten.
XOXO

It is with great sorrow I say RIP to my twin brother Don. Don will always be with my daughter, my dad Jerry, our sister Jackie and brother-in-law Wally, and he will be sorely missed. It is comforting to know that he will now rest beside my late wife and our mom forever. Rest peacefully Don and thank you for the kindness and love you have shown me my whole life.
