My sincere condolences to Peter's family. I attended St. Michael's at the point when Peter had stopped smoking and taken up running. I imagined him continuing to run into his old age and was so happy to hear that this was still a passion for him. It also remains a love for me. Thank you, Peter, for such a wonderful gift. I still occasionally listen to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album while running on the treadmill. Running laps of the St. Michael's gym/Peter Cox Gym!:) must have prepared me for the dullness of treadmill running. We run into many people in life, but not all of them impact us as much as Peter influenced my life. Thank you, Peter.

I first met the Cox family through my best friend and roommate at university, Ann Vice, who often invited me to Renfrew to meet her family. I married David in 1971 and Peter who was one of his good friends was an usher at our wedding. I knew Peter was a teacher, but had no idea he was such a mentor and role model to his students. I always thought of Peter as a very humble and gentle soul. My Deepest condolences to all the family.

My deepest condolences to you Elizabeth, Debbie and your families. May you find comfort with family and friends and the memories you share. Mr. Cox was a teacher in the truest sense of the word. His teachings extended beyond study material.
Mr. Cox made his students feel that they mattered. He inspired us to be the best version of ourselves. The hours spent in the St. Michael's gym, which now appropriately bears his name, are countless. He was teaching by example, dedication, commitment, effort and honor. I am forever grateful and thankful to have had Mr. Cox as my teacher and coach. To Mr. Cox, in loving memory of a life that will never be forgotten.

Peter holds a solid place in our memory and the memories of her now adult children. Our children were privileged to be numbered in the students that Peter taught in his many years at Saint Michael’s school in Douglas. He wanted the best from all his students, be at academic or athletics. What student will ever forget the running of the hill? It warms my heart every time I’m in the school and I see Peter’s name over the gymnasium door, a tribute to him, no better name could have been picked for that gymnasium. Not all who pass through those today will remember or recognize the significance of the name, but those of us who have come before, will never forget.
Thank you Peter for helping to lay the foundation for so many students.

To Elizabeth, Debbie, Jim, Jane, Bob, Bill, Don, George and Cathy: When I heard of Peter‘s passing, I felt like I lost a member of my own family. I have so many good memories of the Cox family. Quarry Street was a great street to grow up on. I vividly remember the Quarry Street gang, their road hockey games where the older boys lorded it over the younger ones, and kicking the young sisters off the road, sliding off your father’s office roof much to his chagrin, your mother going door to door collecting for a charity but always along the way finding time to have a cigarette with my father, never knowing if it was Bill or Bob I was talking to, your dogs Sam and Samantha but especially Peter spending many summer evenings, many years ago, at our home, with my sisters and myself, discussing our life problems. Peter was an usher at my brother David’s wedding and a pallbearer for my sister, Pug. Yes, good times and bad times. I am sure they are all together now. We could not have had better neighbours than the Cox’s. I regret that I hadn’t seen Peter in a number of years. Our paths just went separate ways. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to all of you.
Sincerely, Brenda Vice

I'm deeply saddened to hear the passing of Mr Peter Cox. I was one of the ones that slipped through his fingers,I had poor grades, lack of attention in class and for everything that he tried to do it just didn't work! So with him an the principal and my parents it was decided that they would push me from grade 7 right into grade 9 where I would get the help I needed, more attention more one on one with teachers. It worked, my grades came up, I was do better all round including my well being. Unfortunately I never got to say thank you to Mr. Cox for everything he did for me. He was amazing man & will be deeply missed by each and every single student he touched with help,or kind words of encouragement and dedication that he brought to his duties as a teacher! I like to DEDICATE this song to him called "Testify To Love" if it don't show up here with the message please go to YouTube and in the search bar type the song name in...R.I.P my dear Friend .

This man was a teacher, a mentor, a guide, a leader, and a coach, and most days was like a father to me. The one who no matter what, was always tough on me and had one of the strongest voices in my life as a child, consistently guided me to always strive for more, and always knew I had more potential. He pushed me to the point where most days I could barely move and expanded my mind in other ways I never thought possible being a young girl.
He guided me through a tough physical regime, proper eating and health, proper exercise, the importance of mental health, to never stop pushing, the importance and meaning of team sports, and the longevity effects, it has on our lives and future at a very young age.
I always said "no" to everything outside of my priorities if I had a tournament, a game, or had to study for finals or exams, due to being up at 6:00 am most days, juggling both, and always taking our conversations with me that I had with Mr. Cox, on how to make it in this tough world future wise in reflection of his teachings along the way.
Peter Cox had one of the strongest voices and presence of all of the teachers who were in my life.
Thank you, Peter, for being there for me and being such a solid rock in my life as a child, which turned me into the woman I am today. Going to St. Michael’s Catholic School and St. Joseph’s Highschool, was the best decision as a young child, and now looking back, I do not think I would be the person and where I am today in life if it was not for Peter being such a huge part of it. Your consistent drive and strength, are just a couple of reasons why still to this day, I take care of myself the way I do mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Peter is the true meaning of a humble heart, and a lifetime of health and physical activity until he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Today, I wanted to take the time to say, thank you Peter. Thank you for being everything that you are; to me, my brother, your students, your community, and along with your entire family.
Your support and love will never be forgotten and I will always have a special place in my heart for you. Thank you for loving me, for separating me from others to show me things I never saw in myself so young, and for always guiding me. Without you, I would not be the person I am today.
My sincere condolences go out to his wife Elizabeth, his daughter Debbie, and all of his siblings. Peter was such a rare, amazing, and special human being.
Rest easy, Peter. God has you now. You will always be a champion and a leader in my eyes.
Forever in my heart.
