Obituary of Robert "Bob" James Holmes

With heavy yet grateful hearts for the years he was with us, the family of Robert Holmes announce his passing on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Bonnechere Manor, Renfrew at the age of 93. Bob was the loving husband to the late Mary Briscoe.  He cherished the last 15 years with Leona Raymond. Devoted Dad to Rob, David, Joanne (Jeff Proulx), and Rosemary. He adored his grandchildren Emily Eckford (Nick), Katie Sally (Tyler), Zachary and Joshua Hupé (Émelie). Dad was thrilled to become a great grandpa to Cora and Wade Sally; Wyatt, Sutter and Tate Eckford. They brought him so much joy. He will be fondly remembered by the Raymond family. Dad was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Bernadette (Valliquette) Holmes, his brother Richard Holmes and sister Adeline Wawrzyniak and son-in-law Merril Pierce.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law Janet Holmes, many friends including members of the 7th Heaven Hunt Camp as well as numerous card partners. While we will miss Dad dearly, heaven has gained another top-notch euchre player. Sincere thanks to Dr. Pinard and the staff at the Bonnechere Manor for their exceptional care of our father.

Visitation will be held at the Goulet Funeral Home,310 Argyle St S Renfrew on Thursday July 27th from 3-5, 7-9 pm and after 11:30 am Friday.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, Douglas on Friday at 1:00pm.  Interment Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation or Bonnechere Manor Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
