" Here's to Strong Women
May we know them
May we be them
May we raise them "

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of my mother on July 22, 2023 in her 99 th year at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, where she received exceptional care. Many, many Thanks.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Matilda Oreskovich, her husband Bob and her beloved son Michael. Left to mourn is her daughter Kathy (Jim). Kay, at the young age of 4, along with her mother, immigrated to Canada from Croatia in 1929 to join her father in Northern Ontario, where her dad was a miner. After several years, her parents opened a restaurant in Virginiatown and called it " Joe's Lunch " There she met her future husband Bob. In 1947 she left the " North Country" for Calabogie to join her future hubby, a local lad from the Valley.
Mom loved to cook, garden and tend to her flowers. She enjoyed get-togethers with her new friends and over the years, shared the occasional rye with her besties Mary Charbonneau and eventually another newcomer Sharon Ladouceur. There were of course many others too numerous to mention.
Kay's humor and spirit will be missed by many.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Goulet Funeral Home, Renfrew, Ontario. There will be no visitation. A service will be held at Most Precious Blood Church in Calabogie on Saturday July 29th, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Interment and a reception to follow the service.
If anyone wishes to donate in Mom's name, a charity of their choice or the RVH would be greatly appreciated.
