I moved away from Renfrew last year. In 2017, I met Michael and learned that we were third cousins. I feel very blessed to have finally gotten to know this very courageous and humble man and cousin. On May 30 I went to the Renfrew Cemetary where I have many relatives. We also visited the grave of Michael’s wife. We were happy to know that Michael was still alive and if it weren’t for appointments followed by a long drive home we would have at least called him. His name came to me today kind of out of the blue. I do organ practice every day but for some reason today I started thinking about Michael, the person who gave me this organ. Mainly he needed to give it a new home, nevertheless, I am very grateful that he even found a way to bring it to my home. It truly became a gift to me. This little memory made me wonder if there was another reason for these thoughts of endearment. This is why I checked the internet with his name today. My condolences to all the family and especially Agnes whom her proud father introduced me to one time at a church gathering. This courageous and wonderful man has surely left a void in many lives. I don't have too many memories I can recall, most were before I was a teenager. But he was a kind gentle man. My favourite memory was the big family reunion at the farm. I think it was early 90s. We traveled through the night to get there from the Niagara Region. We met our Renfrew relatives, then went to the cow field, avoided patties and played in the woods. Ran around with other relatives my age. The big old fashioned country dinner outside. That table could seat so many people. When he did travel this way I got to say hi. He was my grandmothers brother. My mothers uncle, so my 2nd uncle. Melissa (Beck) K.

When I met Mike at his home, he was a true gentleman who loved music. He glowed with pride as he watched his grandson Andrew with Andrew's fiance (now wife) Christa Joy play together. I was impressed with his woodworking creativity and talent. The beauty of his craftsmanship inside his house - the types and colours of wood that he chose for the interior walls - is a lasting legacy to the family.
