Obituary of Shirley Ann Leith
On September 18, 2022, with her family by her side, Shirley Leith (nee Leskie), 82 years old, of Renfrew, Ontario, joined her husband Rodger in eternal rest. Shirley and Rodger are lovingly remembered by children Rodger (Carroll) Leith, Tracey (David) Marki, and Bob (Amanda) Leith, and by grandchildren Jessica, Derek, and Bianca and great-grandchildren Carter, Brady, Serena and Dexter. Shirley is survived by sisters Mary Bernadette “Tootsie” Yolkowskie, Debbie (Gary) Legris, Catherine (Cormier) Gauthier, sisters-in-law Joanne Yolkowskie and Becky Leith, brother-in-law John Birrell and cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by parents Doris (nee Warren) and Bernard “Bennie” Leskie, sister Rosemary and brother Wayne, brothers-in-law Ron Yolkowskie, Martin Doucet, Donald Yolkowskie, Bill Benfield, Marcel Gauthier, Larry Leith and Donnie Leith and sister-in-laws Dianne Leith, Colleen Leskie, Marion Birrell, Sylvia Burgess, and Barbara Benfield. Shirley and Rodger were married 60 years at the time of his passing (2021).
She was passionate about her family, friends (Marilyn and Chummy Welch and others), neighbours, her pets (survived by her kitty Charlie and her recently departed cat Nicki) and her gardens. She loved nature and exploring with her husband Rodger on the many trips they took in the truck and vacations in Florida and Hawaii. The family thanks Doctor Mushtaq, the nurses and other staff at Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their dedicated attention and care as well as Renfrew paramedics and staff at Champlain Home and Community Care. Donations in Shirley’s memory to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital or the Valley Animal Rescue would be appreciated. Per Shirley’s wishes, a celebration of life for both Rodger and Shirley will take place at a later date.
A whisper in my ear
Did I hear
My dear
And for a moment, you were here
O, but there was no fear
Just your memory and a tear.
