Dear Leo and Family:
My very sincere sympathy in the loss of a great and wonderful spouse and Mother; Betty was such a good and decent person who always tried to stay cheerful even in the face of difficult health issues.
I remember she came to help my Mother in or about the year 1954 and she was always a great worker and so easy to get along with.
A great light has gone out in this world, and along with the good memories, you can take some consolation from the fact that you had her with you for all the years that you did.
All of us will have to go down the same road at some point, sometimes sooner than we expect.
Sincere best wishes to all of you.

No words can express how I felt when I heard from Cathy Bissett yesterday that dear Betty had passed away and the funeral was taking place at that time. . Quite frankly, I was shocked to hear such sad news!I I was very sad that I didn't know before the funeral as I would have loved to be there for my special friend.
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Leo, Andy, Michael, Leo and Beth.
She was such a great neighbour and lasting friend. I remember lots of great times with Betty and she had the most beautiful smile and laughter. Kindest person I know.
I will always remember her with the utmost fondest memories. Sending my love, prayers and support to all the family.

Dear Uncle Leo, Andy, Mike, Leo, Beth and Family,
It is with profound sadness that I am sending my condolences and prayers. Aunt Betty’s kindness and charitable work was far reaching and it is simply inconceivable the number of lives she touched. Aunt Betty was always my first visit when I was able to come home. The kitchen table was “command central” and it always amazed me the amount of charitable work she was able to organize from that very location. Shortly after my Father’s death and in the midst of the devastation, grief, being miles from my family living in Tennessee, she blessed me with a quilt made out of my Fathers button down shirts. She told me to wrap myself in it and it would comfort me. That was Aunt Betty - such a loving gesture, one of my greatest treasures. She knew what I needed before I could articulate it. Please know how very much Aunt Betty was loved and will be missed. Please know that there was such pride and love when she talked to me about her family. Although miles apart, I am hoping that my prayers will comfort all of you during such a difficult time.

Dearest Andy, Mike, Leo and Beth,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow.
Your mother was a very beautiful and giving person which I am grateful to have known.
I will always remember the Forest ave kitchen turned into a baking factory for the Our Lady of Fatima bake sale time! Betty would donate so many pies and other bakings! It was amazing!
This is where I learned how to roll out dough, and she raved at how well I did to encourage me to make more pies each year! Thank you for teaching me Betty!
Love you very much Betty!
Joanne

My deepest sympathies to you Uncle Leo and family,
I can fondly remember visiting Aunt Betty at the house on Forest Ave in Ottawa as little girl and seeing all of the baked goods in the kitchen and looking into the room on the left of the kitchen and seeing the boxes of donations that Aunt Betty had for those less fortunate. I think it is so fitting that you have chosen the Food Bank to honour her many acts of charity, and her kindness towards the underprivileged in the community. We have made a donation to the Renfrew Food Bank in her memory.
My dad always joked that Aunt Betty was his designated caregiver when he was little. I am sure he is happy to have his older sister looking out for him again.
With Love,
Katy, Robert, Maeve and Mikayla Carroll
