My fondest memories of childhood are those when the Gretzky family lived next door to our family on Barton St., Stoney Creek. Ted was a year younger than me, but I enjoyed his company and received my first kiss from him. I remember him as a kind and fun person. His dad, Ed, taught me how to make gravy. I wasn’t good at my first attempt but learned from my mistakes. And Eleanor was such a kind and loving Mom. Thank you for being our neighbours!
My heart goes out to the Gretzky family, losing Ted. May you find comfort in the kind words of all your family and friends, new and old. I hold you close to my heart.
With love and sympathy, Nancy Dunham

Summer days won't quite be the same without you Ted. You'll always be with us in memory, especially on our adventures, whether it's out on the lake, the river, the bush or hunting for minerals and chaga. You truly were one of a kind and we will miss you greatly.

I learned to paddle at Boundless Adventures years ago - I don't even know if Ted would remember me. But he made a beautiful impression on me that I have never forgotten. Wonderful sense of humour, gentle quiet leadership, bare feet and full of humility. What more could a bunch of young budding leaders need at such an impressionable age. What a challenging time to lose a loved one. My heart goes out to Ted's family, friends and community that loved him to bits. Thank you Ted for the huge footprint you have left behind for so many of us.

My deepest condolences to the family. I grew up in Quadeville, and have stayed her to raise my own family, never have I ever known Quadeville without “Teddy”. I always recall Ted coming into my grandma and grandpas store which now is my aunt and uncles store bare feet. Teddy never wore shoes in there in the summer lol. I’m going to miss joking with him, about everyday life and his visits to get his “ah caramels”. RIP Teddy, you will be missed.

Our deepest sympathies to everyone who loved and cared for Ted. Ted was a wonderful compassionate volunteer with Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care and helped many people in our community. We will miss him and it was an honour to support him in his final days.

Ted will be greatly missed. I loved his laid back, easy going attitude. Christmas time was always special at my house & was always so glad to have Ted join us. He was a Crokinole pro & there was lots of fun times around the board. Although I feel he left us so quickly, I’m sure it was the best way for him to do it. Thanks Ted for being part of all our lives.

We will miss you Ted. Every time my children and I visited with aunt Lorna and Ted we laughed and always learned so much! Ted was a natural teacher and all of us (his students) were honoured to learn from him. My favorite memory was when aunt Lorna and Ted taught my children about butterfly life cycles. They even sent them home with a huge pickle jar with a butterfly in a cacoon! They were so excited! Thank you for all the smiles, learning and adventure.

I well remember Ted. My first spring of opening my cottage on the Madawaska, Ted and my sister Lorna joined me for dinner. It was an eve of getting to know Ted. Upon leaving, Ted thanked me for the meal, and in his quiet manner, and endering spirit, he said " Loretta, the next time you invite the fire chief to dinner, don't seat him directly across from the detached fire alarm". A lesson learnt about caring for
my cottage on my own. ! Always ready to help , to share a story and to be an wonderful friend to me and my girls, Ted it was an honour to know you.
