Dear Family and Friends; Beautiful service.
Please accept my sincere condolences in the passing of our beloved Dick.
As a neighbor and teenage friends we shared many adventures together in the neighborhood... getting into mischief;;.at the cottage at Castleford fishing, or raiding a cornfield only to discover it was cow corn, hunting groundhogs across the gulley now where CTC and Walmart are located, partridge hunting at Ashdad, Touring around town or Arnprior in the Cuffmobile; Air Cadets and many other adventures at the O'brien theatre, Renfrew drive-in, Pool hall, bowling alley, Queen Street Taxi.
I bought his 1962 Pontiac from him when he worked at Barker Motors.($300 I think)
The one adventure which I remember vividly was when we were around 14-15 and we wanted to go fishing across the river near Sand Bay. Uncle Murray wouldn't allow us to use the motorboat so we ventured across with the wooden rowboat. (What could possibly go wrong???crossing the widest part of the river on a beautiful July sunny day???) The 4 of us fished for quite some time but then we noticed dark clouds on the horizon over Cheneax and knew we better hightail it back to the cottage before the storm hit. Well wouldn't you know it, we hooked a BIG fish and about 15-20 minutes later we had this 5 foot fish alongside the boat and were just about to gaff it into the boat when the line snapped.(:>(. We untied the boat which we tied to the log boom crib and headed for home. The wind was blowing pretty hard and the white capped waves were reaching 4 feet. We had no life jackets and only a minnow pail to bale the water. We had one guy bailing and two of us taking turns manning one oar each. We ended up way down the river far from the cottage but made it back safely but not without some permanent deep emotional scars. Praise the Lord for our safe return.
When Kathy told me he was living at Country Haven near our trailer at Cobden; I went to visit him there in the summer of 2019 and caught up with him and had many laughs. I intended to visit him again last summer however, COVID-19 struck and squashed those plans.
We will meet again Dick! So long for now.
Jesus is Lord of all and is praying for each of you in your time of sorrow. Romans 8:34
Love in Christ

I was very sorry to hear the sad news of Dick’s passing.
My very sincere condolences to all the family on the loss of your father, grandfather and brother.
It was always a pleasure to get together with Dick and the other cousins, aunts and uncles at Christmas gatherings, Donohue Day at Lake Clear, and more recently at our annual golf tournament. I don’t think I ever saw Dick without a big smile on his face. He was always good humoured and had a kind word for everyone, I know the loss of Rita left a big hole in his heart, and I hope it will be of some comfort to you to know that he is with her again.

Our deepest sympathy on the passing of Dick.
I always felt blessed to have so many cousins around me. I fondly remember Christmas days at Grandma Donohue’s house and Donohue days at Uncle Arnie's cottage. The first time I was on water skis was at Lake Clear with Dick at the helm of the boat.
I also remember the night of my Dad’s funeral. We had all gathered at Uncle Jim’s house when it was decided that a ‘road trip’ was what was needed. I can’t remember all the details but Dick may have been the instigator. How can you not feel loved with a car full of Donohue cousins surrounding you? I will never forget that.
We can all take comfort in the knowledge that we will see Dick again face to face.

I was saddened this morning to read of Dick's passing. Dick and I were friends and for a time travelled together to Toronto for work.We shared our thoughts as we travelled ,Dick always seemed to be in a good mood and I enjoyed his company. Our paths separated but a chance meeting at Finigans a few years ago renewed our friendship and we shared a laugh or two remembering our time travelling together. I will miss my friend. My sincere sympathy to Dick's family during these most difficult of times.
